There are eight events in the upcoming World Equestrian games. I thought I would take a post or so for each them, but a brief explanation will be included in this post. For most folks that are involved in equestrian activities of any sort and especially these kind of competitions it is old hat, but for those only casually interesting this is some good information on what to see for each of the events coming up.

We are just under one month from when the world will arrive in Central Kentucky for the World Equestrian Games. Currently I am little concerned about a couple of issues that are still to be resolved. The two that are most in the forefront in mind are the number of unfinished construction projects still going on in downtown Lexington at this point and the continued use of coal interest as a major sponsor leading to a lot of backlash and even lack of entertainment.

Clearly I did not spend enough time watching the horses and such this year leading up to the Kentucky Derby and I nothing to show for it after the mud settled. Leading up the Preakness though, I thought I was back on top of it and had it figured out. Much to my dismay, my changed strategy resulted in one small payout for an afterthought win bet. Here is to hopping for better luck with the Belmont Stakes betting.

We are less then a week away from the first Saturday in May, which around these parts is famous for one thing – the Kentucky Derby! I have, for the past few years made a habit of tracking the horses and giving my picks at various points. This year, I am behind, but with a few days left and the field still not completely set, nor gates drawn, here are my thoughts on some of the horses to watch in the quickly settling field…

Getting going with this site in more earnest, starting out with some general information about some goings on here in Kentucky. We just had the Rolex Three Day Event along with Keeneland and move right into the Kentucky Derby this coming weekend. Without further delay, let me get to a short list of things.
