So I set this up sometime over the summer, even worked on getting some of the functionality and correct look later in the summer. Since then I have been in the mode of I would get to this as the next thing. And now it has set idle for far too long. So, I am using the idea of NaBloPoMo as a motivator to get this blog up and running. The basic theme is about equine games, with an obvious slant toward the FEI World Equestrian Games coming to Lexington Kentucky in the fall of 2010. However, it is not limited to just the equestrian games that FEI sanctions, as indeed there are thousands of other equestrian based games.
I will note just a few, but clearly roping and steer wrestling from the rodeo world qualify. Most of us, my self excluded, participated in pony club games and like at some point in our your or are re-involved in them with our own children. Many adults have taken up the same and similar with the gymkhana types of activities. And while FEI does have endurance riding, there several variations of competitive trail riding out there now, from completing a course in condition and time (similar to endurance), to points scored navigating standard obstacles, to setting you own course with compass in hand. And of course there are millions of niche games, such as the myriad of those found in my own medieval/jousting world (though tent pegging has a variation in some countries that is FEI sponsored) And while I am thinking about, anyone up for a game of polo or buzkashi – or at least discussing them?
Just quickly, so everyone knows. NaBloPoMo is a concept of posting once daily to blog for an entire month. It is held all the time, but the big month is November. I am using that a motivation to get cracking on building content for this site this November, while at the same time finishing up the little touches that will give it a good look and feel what the site is all about.
Comments and suggests are welcome of course! And thank you for reading. Feel free to jump right in on any discussion. Oh, and if you consider yourself an expert and are willing to post here on a somewhat regular basis, let me know, as I am hoping to grow this beyond just my own personal posting on the subjects – as I know my lack of expertise in some equine games will show all too quickly.
